Police claim to have discovered discrepancies in the case of Emmanuel Haro, a 7-month-old California boy who went missing.
In an update released on Saturday, August 16, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) stated that investigators had found errors in certain aspects of Emmanuel’s mother’s account of his alleged abduction on August 14.
According to a statement from the SBCSD, investigators spoke with a number of people, including Emmanuel’s parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro. Rebecca refused to continue the interview after being challenged with contradictions in her first statement during the interviews.
Investigators stated that they are unable to rule out foul involvement in Emmanuel’s disappearance as a result.
According to police, on August 14, at approximately 7:47 p.m., deputies were called to the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard in Yucaipa after receiving a report that Emmanuel had disappeared.
Before her baby was taken, Rebecca told authorities she had been attacked outside a store. She was discovered with a black eye.
After the mother of a seven-month-old reported being attacked outside a retail establishment on Yucaipa Boulevard last night, police posted on X that K9 scent-tracking dogs were sent out, but the child was not found. Our Specialized Investigations Division investigators are still looking into the reported kidnapping of the child. As of right now, no suspicious information is accessible.
Rebecca, her husband, and two other kids were at a park for her son’s football practice, according to KTLA. Then, when the event occurred, she was driving to a Big 5 Sporting Goods store to obtain a mouthguard for her kid.
She told the magazine, “I don’t remember anything since somebody said, Hola, while I was going to get the diaper.”
Additionally, Rebecca told ABC 7 Eyewitness News: I took him out of the car seat and put him down to change his diaper. All I can recall is seeing white, falling to the ground, and when I woke up, I couldn’t find my kid.
She claimed to have looked everywhere around my truck before rushing into the business and dialing 911.
According to police, the area where Emmanuel vanished was not captured by any surveillance cameras. According to KTLA, since there was no description of the person or car, no Amber Alert was sent out.
Emmanuel has not been located, and the case is currently being investigated by the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division.
Anyone with information is urged by the police to contact the Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904.
