Two years after struggling with Tourette’s syndrome and failing to complete his Glastonbury concert, well-known singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi returned to the stage on Friday.
Shortly after the 2023 performance, Capaldi told Rolling Stone that he was canceling all of his upcoming tour dates in order to focus on his physical and emotional health. As of Friday, he hadn’t played again.
He informed the audience, “I’m not going to say much up here today because if I do, I’ll probably start crying.” Being here with all of you is simply incredible, and I am so grateful that you came out to see me. This is the second time in a row.
Rumors that Capaldi would make a comeback at the festival were so common, according to Rolling Stone, that the singer joked that it was the event’s worst-kept (crap) secret.
He told the audience, “It’s been a tough time, and I really missed doing this over the last two years.”
“Maybe this return won’t happen,” he continued. From the bottom of my heart, it truly means the world. Baby, I’m back!
According to Rolling Stone, Capaldi’s six-song set began with “Before You Go” and ended with “Someone You Loved.”
The 28-year-old is a Scottish native. His first album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, was released in 2019 and went on to become the UK’s best-selling record of both 2019 and 2020.
