The location of the transfer of further Rite Aid prescription information has been reported by a Pennsylvania supermarket.
The records of 78 Rite Aid locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania were acquired by Giant Eagle. The locations of the first 68 prescription file transfers were previously made public by the firm.
The firm revealed the next 15 transfers on Monday, increasing the total number of Rite Aid locations that would be moved to Giant Eagle to 83.
Despite buying 78 prescription files from Rite Aid, Giant Eagle will continue to acquire files from other sources, according to spokesperson Jannah Drexler.
According to an email from Drexler, the rationale for the additional stores indicated is that Rite Aid decided to combine prescription files from some of their locations during their closing process, which eventually led to some incremental flow via our process. As an example from the last list, Rite Aid moved all of its prescription files to the DuBois Rite Aid after closing its Punxsutawney store. Files from the DuBois Rite Aid were purchased by Giant Eagle Pharmacy. Prescription records from both the Punxsutawney and DuBois Rite Aid sites were therefore imported into the Giant Eagle Pharmacy system as a result of the previous Rite Aid consolidation.
Only Pennsylvanian stores have been included in all 83 transfers thus far.
Last month, the business stated that it anticipates closing on the acquisition of the prescription files in phases during June.
Following Rite Aid’s scheduled departure, Giant Eagle will take over operations of the current Rite Aid pharmacies in two locations. The identities of those two places are yet unknown.
According to Giant Eagle, it is aggressively contacting the impacted Rite Aid consumers.
According to the organization, Giant Eagle Pharmacy is actively growing its pharmacy personnel in order to better serve both current and potential customers. Interested parties may visit jobs.gianteagle.com to apply.
Customers at Rite Aid are free to transfer their prescriptions to any retailer of their choosing. Nonetheless, shops frequently purchase prescription data in an effort to attract new clients.
In order to pursue a strategic and value-maximizing selling process for nearly all of its assets, Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy a second time last month.
It is anticipated that the majority of Rite Aid’s 1,200+ locations would close.
Rite Aid declared that it had signed contracts for the pharmacy assets of over 1,000 of its locations nationwide.
According to CVS Pharmacy, it has reached an agreement to purchase and run 64 Rite Aid pharmacies in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, as well as the prescription records of 625 Rite Aid pharmacies in 15 states that CVS serves.
Eleven Rite Aid pharmacies in New York and Pennsylvania have agreed to sell their prescription data to Weis Markets.
Nine states have consented to let Walgreens buy prescription paperwork.
Additionally, Albertsons and Kroger have agreed to purchase prescription data.
According to Reuters, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court authorized those arrangements.
