With two years left on his contract, former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has signed the new contract he was looking for with the Miami Dolphins, which includes some guaranteed money.
Numerous reports state that Fitzpatrick’s contract will include a signing bonus of $16.245 million. Fitzpatrick’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, reports that negotiations are ongoing to extend his contract past the 2026 season.
The news of Fitzpatrick’s trade shocked a number of Steelers players. At one time, Patrick Queens stated that he believed he was the one heading to Miami.
T.J. Watt claimed that when the trade was completed, he was completely taken aback.
I was surprised. “Everyone in this room was shocked, and so was I,” Watt added.
After the Steelers acquired Fitzpatrick in 2019, he became the highest-paid safety in the NFL and was a standout free safety for the team. However, the Steelers did not get any big plays from him.
They now add Jalen Ramsey, who is two years Fitzpatrick’s senior and can play a variety of spots. Fitzpatrick should play as a free safety for the Dolphins, but Ramsey will need to stave off Father Time.
