Remains of Missing Calif. Woman Found, More Than 1 Year After She Was Last Seen, as Her Loved Ones Seek Answers

The remains of a lady who was last seen in the San Diego region in late 2023 have been found by authorities, according to her relatives.

According to a news statement from the San Diego Sheriff’s Office (SDSO), on July 16, investigators obtained information about an ongoing investigation and executed a search warrant on a property located in Valley Center, California, some 40 miles northeast of San Diego.

The skeletal remains of a human person were found buried on the 20-acre property as authorities were looking for Nadine Jett, 65.

Authorities verified the remains’ identity as belonging to Jett on Thursday, August 21, via the Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the announcement, no arrests have been made as of yet. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office detectives are working hard to determine the circumstances surrounding Ms. Jett’s death and are still following up on all leads.

The San Diego Union-Tribune, FOX 5, and CBS 8 reported that Jett owned the 20-acre property.

Before receiving a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, the 65-year-old practiced family law and divorce for almost 30 years. Tiffany Lucci and her three identical quadruplet sisters were among the children she fostered.

Tiffany informed local media that the sisters hadn’t seen Jett since December 2023, just after she was diagnosed with cancer.

The Lucci sisters and a number of close acquaintances had expressed their concerns to the local media regarding Jett’s absence, even though the Sheriff’s Office could not provide a specific date for her formal missing report.

As Jett fought illness, the sisters had communicated with her guardian, a man who had been her foster son, according to the Union Tribune and NBC San Diego.

The nanny allegedly told the sisters over and over again that Jett was too sick to see or talk to them. He allegedly informed them that Jett had died and been cremated in Mexico by the next Easter.

Tiffany claimed that when she and the deputies went to the property later, it had been wiped out. The Valley Roadrunner had previously received a letter from a neighbor regarding squatters residing on the property.

The Lucci sisters also learned that the caretaker would not provide them with a death certificate, and the Mexican embassy had no documentation of Jett’s cremation. Jett was reported missing around a year ago.

Another of Jett’s foster daughters, Paris Lucci, told NBC San Diego, “We began to investigate when she disappeared.” We made contact with our neighbors. We made contact with every ranch resident.

The sisters informed NBC San Diego and FOX 5 that a realtor who was assisting the caretaker in selling the property allegedly alerted investigators.

According to NBC San Diego, the realtor allegedly stated that a house sale failed because the caregiver would frequently leave for days at a time and refused to submit a death certificate.

Police stated in July that human remains were found during a check of Jett’s property.

The four sisters are still looking for information regarding Jett’s passing and disappearance.

It’s closure, but my sisters and I were all crying and devastated. According to CBS 8, Tiffany stated, “We finally got the closure we needed, but it’s still going to be a fight, you know, to find out who did this and why did they do it.”

“We considered [Jett] as our mother, not our foster mom,” Tiffany said of Jett, describing her as more than just a foster mother.

“Nadine was just an amazing woman who just taught us right from wrong, always there for us, always at her basketball games, and always at any kind of event we needed a mom to be at,” Paris continued, as reported by NBC San Diego. She was an amazing woman who left her mark on our lives. She fought for us, and at this point, we are fighting for her.

Anyone with information about Jett is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477, according to the SDSO.
