The
United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA)
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a nationwide recall which, of course, applies
to Pennsylvania
.
This recall
applies to a ready-made sausage product that might potentially have “foreign material” in it.
According to a release published Thursday to
the FSIS website
, Chelsea, Massachusetts-based
Kayem Foods Inc.
is pulling about 24,173 pounds of its 11-ounce., vacuum-packed, four-piece packages of “All Natural al Fresco Chicken Sausage Sweet Apple with Vermont-made syrup.”
This recall was initiated after three consumer complaints reported white pieces of plastic in the chicken sausage. Fortunately, there have been no injuries related to this contamination as of the publishing of this report.
The recalled products were made on June 28. They bear the lot code “179” as well as the “USE/FRZ BY” date of “OCT 01 2025” and the establishment number of “P-7839.”
“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers,” the release notes. “Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them.
“These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
