Since the Pittsburgh Steelers have not yet extended Cameron Heyward’s one-year contract to a three-year one, he is still waiting out the team.
But Steelers standout cornerbacks Darius Slay and Jalen Ramsey already want Heyward to leave, and they publicly pressure the team to finalize his contract as quickly as possible.
We are eager to join you on the field in the first week as everything settles in and gets set up. Mr. Omar, we need you all out there. Mr. Omar, you have my utmost respect. T.J., Slay, you’ve taken care of me. Next up is Cam. Man, we’re thrilled. If all of our guys are content and feel appreciated, we have the opportunity to accomplish something amazing. I understand what it’s like to feel appreciated and receive what is rightfully yours.”On Not Just Football,” Ramsey said.

Slay went on to say that the cornerbacks are now riding with Heyward and other team members, so they are watching how the organization handles Heyward’s contract dispute.
Ramsey concluded the remarks regarding Heyward’s contract by saying that he and Slay will continue to support the Steelers captain in his pursuit of greater compensation.
Ramsey stated, “We’re not playing about you all.” For all of you, we stand on the table.
According to Heyward, the 22nd-highest paid defensive tackle in the NFL, he expressed his desire for a new contract to the team in late February. According to Heyward, all he wants is to be valued in relation to the market, which has been rising steadily.
To be honest, I want to be respected. In my current role as a D-Tech, I am 36 years old and a D-Lineman. I am aware of my contributions to this squad and my abilities both on and off the field. After the year is over, I find it difficult to provide a compelling argument for playing at the level I do, Heyward said.
The main argument against Heyward signing a new contract is that he ought to keep his word. Although Heyward was given a roster bonus in March after he was not cut, the Steelers had no guaranteed income after the 2024 season.
Heyward, a 2024 first-team All-Pro, wants his salary to be commensurate with his on-field performance. It would appear that he is satisfied if he received a one-year pay increase.
Heyward’s salary for the upcoming season might be increased if the Steelers move some of his $12.95 million roster bonus forward so he can receive it early.
