Nowadays, a lot of individuals are upset with Spotify, a streaming music service.
It has previously been about the allegedly small sum of money it gives the platform’s artists.
But more recently, there have been protests about Daniel Ek, the CEO of Spotify, investing in a military technology company that uses artificial intelligence.
The German startup Helsing, which provides software that employs artificial intelligence (AI) to evaluate data and assist in making military choices in real time, has received significant investment from Ek’s venture capital firm Prima Materia. The business also produces military drones.
The Australian rock group King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard has said that they will be removing their entire discography from Spotify in protest of that decision.
In an Instagram post over the weekend, King Gizzard revealed that it was releasing a set of demos that will be available everywhere but Spotify, adding [Expletive] Spotify.
The band provided more context for their actions in a later Instagram Stories post, writing: A PSA for the uninformed: Daniel Eks, the CEO of Spotify, spends millions on military drones with artificial intelligence. Our song was recently taken down from the platform. Is there any way we can force these Dr. Evil tech guys to perform better? Join us on a different platform.
There are more bands than King Gizzard that have lately removed their entire discography from Spotify. Similar actions have been taken by the indie bands Deerhoof and Xiu Xiu (pronounced She She). Xiu Xiumade urged followers to PLEASE CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WITH SPOTIFY when they announced last week that they were taking their music down from the rubbish hole violent Armageddon portal.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is well-known for its live performances, versatility in releasing many genres, and high output—up to three albums per year at times. Phantom Island, their most recent album, was released earlier this year.
