Penn State
has been red-hot at the tight end position for the better part of the past decade, but after signing three players at the position in 2025, James Franklin has not received a 2026 commitment thus far.
That could change Wednesday, as four-star tight end Pierce Petersohn has set his plans to commit. The Triton (Minnesota) prospect is deciding between Penn State and his home state Golden Gophers.
Petersohn plays quarterback at his high school, but his basketball background and 6-5 frame are easily projectable to tight end.
According to the 247Sports Composite, he’s the No. 341 player overall.

Penn State may have a slight upper hand in the recency bias department for Petersohn, as he made an official visit to Happy Valley over this past weekend and has not been to Minnesota since the end of May. Those were his only two official visits, while he went to Penn State one other time in April and Minnesota thrice since September.
The Nittany Lions could use some good news on the recruiting trail after missing out on a quartet of top targets last week. There’s potential for movement sooner than later, with Petersohn, defensive tackle
Damari Simeon
and defensive end Jackson Ford all announcing this week.
