President Donald Trump called the whole affair a fraud by political rivals and implied on Monday that former FBI Director James Comey or former Attorney General Merrick Garland might have added his name to the Jeffrey Epstein files.
While addressing reporters at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump brushed off inquiries about whether he was aware that his name was listed in the Epstein documents.
It hasn’t really piqued my curiosity. Trump claimed it was a scam that had been exaggerated. Comey, Garland, and Biden—the worst slime on the planet—were in charge of those files. For four years, they operated them. They would have already disclosed it if they had anything.
Trump referred to the issue as “fake news” and called it “phony and fake,” drawing comparisons to the flawed Steele dossier. He claimed that the same ill individuals who had spearheaded that endeavor were now spearheading allegations against Epstein.
Reporter: Doesn’t the AG have to inform you that your name was in the Epstein files, since you claimed not to have been informed?Trump: It is a fraud. The worst filth on the planet was in charge of those files. They are led by Comey and Garland. They might easily insert a fake document into the files.purkJNwVxh pic.twitter.com/
On a Pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell
When asked if he would think about pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime accomplice who was found guilty of human trafficking, Trump acknowledged that he has the power but claimed that no one has formally raised the issue.
Trump stated, “I have the authority to pardon her, but no one has come to me or asked.” Although it is in the news, discussing it at this time would be improper.
Trump Reiterates He Cut Ties with Epstein
In an attempt to shed light on his previous contact with Epstein, Trump reiterated that he had cut off all communication with the notorious billionaire long before Epstein was arrested in 2019. He said that after discovering that Epstein had stolen employees from Trump’s club, he booted him out of Mar-a-Lago.
He employed me as a helper, and I told him, “Never do that again.” Then, Trump claimed, he did it once again. I tossed him out as a result. If you want to know the truth, I’m happy I did. Persona non grata was what he became.
As legal disputes over the release of secret court documents continue, Trump’s remarks coincide with heightened scrutiny of prominent individuals associated with Epstein. Following inquiries into why members of the Trump administration, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, allegedly withheld investigative files, the issue has come up again.
Trump insists the charges are politically motivated despite the conjecture.
“Like everything else, it’s a setup,” he remarked. They are filthy and desperate.
