Unheralded Pittsburgh Steelers tackle gets big chance after injury

Published On:

LATROBE, PA. –Due to a soft-tissue injury that kept Broderick Jones out of action, the Steelers handed a young man an opportunity to show off his skills.Mike Tomin would not crown Dylan Cook, who is starting his third season with the organization. The Steelers have high expectations for him.

Regarding Cook’s first team snaps, Tomlin remarked, “We’re just acclimating.” He is undoubtedly a seasoned individual who has served in that capacity in the past, but I am not making any assumptions about his exact tasks and areas of expertise at this early stage of development.

Cook is still embracing that chance, and given the situation, he sees this season as a make-or-break one. He wants to make the 53-man roster, but he hasn’t played in an NFL game yet.

This year is undoubtedly my chance to prove myself. Since I haven’t yet participated in a Pittsburgh Steelers regular season game, I believe it’s time to get started or lose. And I kind of approach this offseason by letting go. Cook declared, “It’s time to get some playing time.”

Cook has concentrated on being more proficient with his feet and varying his pass sets. He sees himself thinking too much as a former quarterback. Before a lisfranc injury sidelined him during that journey last year, Cook was on track to return to the roster.

However, he is motivated by the desire to relive the taste of the 53-man roster from two years ago.

Yes, that was a really pleasant feeling a few years ago, but that was also a few years ago. Cook stated that it’s time to experience that sensation once more.

Cook is capable of playing all four offensive line positions, with the exception of center. If he does well, that adaptability might help get him on the roster.
