The quarterbacks for the Cleveland Browns have kept their trainers and club physicians quite busy.
Prior to this week’s joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles, two quarterbacks were already battling ailments. Additionally, another signal-caller sustained an injury prior to the commencement of Wednesday’s session.
In Saturday’s preseason game at Lincoln Financial Field, which players from the crowded Browns quarterback room will the Eagles face?
It appears that Shedeur Sanders will not be wearing a suit. The highly talked-about youngster is not expected to participate after allegedly sustaining an oblique strain on Wednesday during warmups. On Thursday, the second joint practice at the NovaCare Complex, he will not be participating.
On Saturday, Sanders was anticipated to be a must-see. After going through a freefall in the NFL draft, falling from first-round consideration to No. 144 overall in the fifth round, the former Colorado standout and son of Deion Sanders became a topic of discussion.
During his first preseason action, Sanders quiet skeptics, at least temporarily, by asking Jalen Hurts for guidance during Wednesday’s practice. In a victory over the Carolina Panthers last week, he completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, giving him a strong appearance.
Sanders won’t be able to try to improve on that performance against the Eagles, it appears. So, let’s see who Philadelphia might play at the Linc on Saturday.
The Eagles’ 2024 backup, Kenny Pickett, was a hit at the NovaCare Complex on Wednesday, mingling with former teammates with whom he shared a Super Bowl victory the previous season. In an attempt to compete for the starting position, Pickett was moved to the Browns in March following a fresh start in Philadelphia. However, since July 26, the former Steelers first-round pick has been limited due to a hamstring ailment. On Wednesday, Pickett participated in 7-on-7 drills but was not permitted to play in 11-on-11 team sessions. There is a lot of uncertainty about his status on Saturday.
Dillon Gabriel: If Gabriel is unable to play, Sanders will start on Saturday, according to Browns coach Kevin Stefanski’s statement Wednesday morning. Then Sanders was injured. Like Pickett, Gabriel, an Oregon third-round rookie, is battling a hamstring injury. However, Gabriel participated in team exercises, which was encouraging.He only completed 6 of 19 passes, demonstrating his difficulty. Joe Flacco: Let the 40-year-old be the healthiest member of the group.
